Kamelion was a shape-changing android a tool, used by an earlier invader of the planet Xeriphas. The Master discovered Kamelion on the wrecked planet which had been decimated during the war between the Kosnax and the Vardonand took with him when he escaped.

The Master travelled to Earth with it, using his mind-powers to force Kamelion to adopt the shape of King John, hoping to stop the signing of the Magna Carta and so disrupt Earth's future development. But was thwarted by the Fifth Doctor who took over control of the android in mental battle (6J). The Doctor then took Kamelion aboard the TARDIS, much to the disdain of Tegan Jovanka and Vizlor Turlough.

No matter how hard it tried to shake off the Master's influence, the android failed, despite Peri's efforts to help it. Kamelion stayed with the Doctor in the TARDIS. But the Master again succeeded in re-establishing control of him and used the android to bring the Doctor to Sarn.

While posing as the Master, Kamelion tried to take control of the people of Sarn, but when he was used against the Doctor, Kamelion managed to assert, his own control, and begged the Time Lord to destroy him.

In the end, the Fifth Doctor agreed to destroy Kamelion. The Doctor used the Master's TCE, completely destroying the android and ensuring that he could not be rebuilt and reused (6Q).
