The
Doctor is recovering from the effects of his latest body change. Meanwhile,
a robot breaks into a top secret government establishment and steals the
plans of a new Disintegrator Gun. The Doctor investigates and traces the
crime to a group of dissident scientists known as Think Tank who, led
by the formidable Miss Winters, are planning to take over the world. To
do this they are using a robot designed by Professor Kettlewell, who pretends
to oppose them but is really on their side. The Think Tank steals a Destructor
Code which will enable them to launch a nuclear missile attack and start
the Third World War. UNIT attacks the bunker where they are fortified.
In an attempt to protect its masters the robot kills Kettlewell and goes
berserk. An infusion of energy provided by the Disintegrator Gun makes
it grow to enormous size. The Doctor arrives in time with a metal virus
which destroys the robot. Harry Sullivan joins the Doctor and Sarah as
they leave in the TARDIS.
